Here we go!
Shared Turns 4!
Technically, it’s still 3 for the next few weeks. But anyway, thank you to everyone who has used Shared. I haven’t shared this before, but as of writing, Shared has been downloaded 2,618 times in 105 different countries. While that number might seem small, it’s more than the number of people I know personally and the number of countries I’ve visited. I’m proud.
Pinkish Song ID
Pinkish was the first Shared tint. In June 2023, It was introduced in the widgets and song identification Live Activity. With 2.0 released in April 2024, it spread to the app icons, and now with 2.1, it’s the default tint for song identification.
Delete
Until now, the only way to delete something in Shared was to delete everything. Why? I liked the idea of an unadulterated history. Why change? Why not. Absolutely no one has asked me for it, but I think people might want to delete stuff. In fact, I’ve deleted stuff. Egad!
Open in…
Originally, it was an Open in Shared button. Idea behind its was that the user could open in Shared and then pick their service. But what if they didn’t have to tap in Shared? It used to be behind the more options button, but I think it’s better as its own button.
Share with Bluesky and Threads
Simple enough. But while you’re at it, follow Shared on Bluesky and Threads! It’s just to share music I like… usually while listening to it… usually at gym…

Alert Preferences
When Shared’s identifying music, you can the leave the app and it will alert you with a push notification or with a Live Activity—or both, or neither. What’s a Live Activity alert?
If you have Shared+, you also get a Live Activity when you open something in Shared. Helpful if you want to leave the app for a bit to do something.
Shared with You Action
Shared with You lets you see the Shared links you’ve been sent in messages. You can search for it, create a shortcut with it, or ask Siri!

New to Shared+
Shared+ launched with version 2.0. In 2.1, I've added a few more perks. Mainly appearance customisation!
Tints
You get new tints for the app icons, widgets, song identification, and Live Activities: Red, Green, and Blue. Not just that, but the Grey widget tint also expands to the app icons, song identification, and Live Activities!
Shortcuts
You can also change the different tints with Siri or the Shortcuts app. Do you like a green tint during the day but grey at night? How about red at the office and blue at home? well…
Share Sheet AudioPilot
You know that open in button and how you just have to tap twice on the same screen? Well… what if you just had to tap once?

That wraps up my changes to 2.1. The first build of 2.1 (825) was released to my super secret alpha testers group on the 24th of May. I believe the build you all have is 875—as I write this on Friday, Jul 12, 2024 at 01:29:56 SAST, App Review has both iOS and macOS versions in review.
Just so you know, those aren’t all the changes. I made a few other changes, and some I worked really hard on—like getting the history background to respond just how I wanted it to. many iterations.
But I did that and all of the other things because I love making Shared and making it is incredibly fulfilling—even if it doesn’t pay the bills yet… but you can help change that ;)
